Photographer’s Note

A view of the picturesque town of Yangshuo from the top of one of the many karst formations in the region.

Yangshuo is about an hour by bus to the east of the larger city of Guilin. Its popular with backpackers for the Li River boat cruise to Yangdi / Xing Ping & Moon Hill.

Quite a lot going on here. I like the way you've trapped the town between the limestone hills in the background, and fence in the foreground.

Hi Chris,
What amazed me, when I was there, wasn't the town itself, but the place where it raised. This perspective shows very well the mixed of karst formations and constructions. Unbelievable place! The POV is magnific and I remembered it, although I hadn't enough time to walk here. Good use of the vertical format, including the fence to frame the view.

Great shot Chris! I like the way you used the stairs going down to the valley as a way to draw the viewer in, and also provide some depth. Spectacular mountains in the background don't hurt either! Excellent!

Always interesting to see these mountain formations, Chris, and this is nice for the way in which it illustrates the quite unique location of the town. Fine scanning quality and well framed, it seems to lean a little to the left judging from the array of buildings in the back.
