Old monk in Xiahe Photo

Photographer’s Note

It was snowing when I reached Xiahe. And it was really cold!
As I left my luggage in the small hotel a bit away from town centre I went out immediately so curious to discover the different atmosphere I noticed there.

Undoubtely it was a much different atmosphere compared to the other places I visited until there with a lot of tibetan people walking in the main street padded in their heavy clothes.
There were a lot of monks too, young and old, like the one I purpose with this image.

Located in the southwest of Gansu province and northwest of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous prefecture; in northeast edge of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Xiahe is a great place to visit.

Labrang monastery is a large, sprawling Buddhist complex of significant importance. It is second in size only to the Potala Palace monastery in Lhasa.

Ciao Luca bel ritratto, anche buffo di questo vecchio monaco.
gli occhiali fatti in casa, il volto segnato dalle rughe e i bei colori sono tutti molto particolari e unici.

Wonderful image. The central character of the monk is so powerful that, even those areas which in other circumstances could be distracting, are not.

strong image. Even for a simply composed portrair type shot. The monk's face is full of character and he sure was a must to photograph. I do like how the entire photo, from monk to background has a very aged feel and look.
