Photographer’s Note
Going to the Great Wall was the highlight of my trip to China. We went to a site that was further north than most of the tourist areas, so we got to see more of the wall and a lot less people. It was really beautiful out there and it was amazing to see the Great Wall snake over the hills in front of me and the mountains in the distance.
I took nearly 100 photos of the wall. My legs were aching from climbing up and down thousands of steep, jutting steps.
On the way back I stopped for a breath and saw this shot. After taking the shot, the pain in my legs was gone. I'd got the shot I was looking for and I was really, really happy.
The Great Wall is one of the most amazing things I've seen so far. I'm glad I got a chance to shoot it.
PP ... this photo has been cropped slightly and a frame was added. Contrast was increase slightly also.

A known wall of all, but that your composition emphasizes, moreover this light is very beautiful. Well done and notes interesting.

Hello David,
Impressive view! B & W was a good choice as it helps us to concentrate on the wall. Just sad that the it is cut on the foreground of the picture.
Thanks for sharing

Hey David,
the lighting here is REALLY good man. Really good. I like the really strong graphism of this shot as well as this particular POV where the wall winds itself all over the frame nearly filling all of it.

Nice shot David, I love the way you have captured the serpentine quality of the wall, emphasised by the nice oblique light.

Wonderful image, I love how our eyes are led to follow the wall and you've captured so much of it in one image! Very nice in black and white too, a unique effect.

Hi Davis, this is one of the best pics of the Great Wall. The B/W enhances the imagination. Well done. I am preparing a trip to China, could you tell me the name of the place, where this pic was taken and approx. what time ? I am looking also for places with no people and more interesting views. Thanks a lot. Cheers, Michael

Hi David
I like very much your photo.
B&W is ok, but the compo is perfect for me.
I like the play of the shades with the curves of the mountain.
Congrats

You described this moment very well, David, it really helped me to feel that amazung place; it is very easy to understand why you took nearly 100 photos, but this is in fact a very good one, in my opinion. Excellent perspective and DOF and a great shot!
