this is an old lady on a farm and the living quarters are cut into the field.
you go down a flight of earth stairs to the area which has been dug out...a courtyard...off of that are rooms cut into the earth.
this lady is one of the last of the young girls whose feet were bound at birth...
her feet were tiny
the bindings have to be taken of periodically to cut the nails etc..at that time great pain is felt as the circulation returns..
a piece of the past
