New Year in Ancient Forest
This is Shilin — the forest of stone "trees" — when we arrived during the first few days of lunar calendar New Year.
Stone Forest [石林 in Chinese or Thạch Lâm in Vietnamese] is not one of trees but of rocks eroded through the centuries into many towering pillars of stone. Amongst the Stone Forest are lakes of crystal clear water which reflect the surroundings, and adds to their mystic charm.
* For more info in English about this destination, please refer to my theme "a sketch on my 2005-trip to Asia".
* For a Vietnamese article by Ngô Thế Vinh, please refer to Rừng Đá Vạn Cổ.
Stone Forest was deadly cold and dark when we first came, also was my first try on digital camera after 35 years with film. Technically, you see my failure along the trip. Please forgive and educate me, so I could improve my next trip. Thanks.

Hi,
Nice colors, but the picture hasn't got any message. That bothers me a bit. With some frame, the picture would be lovlier. I've done someworkshop, hope you will like it :)
