Photographer’s Note
Kite flying is a national pastime in China. It’s also an art. I spent a few hours walking around in a big park in Kunming and found a few people flying kites. The old gentleman was obviously an expert. While the others were fighting to control their kites, he was just sitting and relaxing and he’s kite was so far up that it was just a dot in the middle of the sky.
I was so focused on the old man, that unfortunately, I failed to notice the kid on the background and did not take him into account when taking the photo. It’s still nice to have him on the picture, but it would be nicer if his head was whole.

Hi Ricardo,
you lovely caught the anger and jelous look at boys face. But the old man is having the late time fun of his life. This picture is explaining wey well that most of us are postponing funs and enjoys in our lives. And finally when we're getting old we're going back to childhood.
Nice job Ricardo.

Bonjour Ricardo,

Good shot with an interesting expression.
I agree about the boy but I can't really imagine how this photo would look with him fully included.

Hello Ricardo,
I agree with your comment on the boy but the main subject, the old man, is captured very well with so much intensity in his face. Good placement and I also like his fancy string device, by that you can tell he is a pro :) Nice photo. Thanks for sharing.

Bom enquadramento, cores e luminosidade.
Abraços,
Leonor

It is not the kid here that is disturbing, on the contrary, its good to see his expression and how he is trying to learn from the master. I would like to have not seen the points of the shoes poking in the right hand corner. But you can never get what you want.

I like this one for the fact that the old man is enjoying the kite more than the boy standing next to him ,Ricardo
Also the exprestion and the way the guy is set up with the chair and the rope … a real PRO

Hi Ricardo,
Thank you for this image and for your note. You managed a very successful portrait of the man and his young apprentice. I think the crop is good -- it's just, as Elaine noticed, that it would have been better if the third person had not come that close. It's a little hard to clone him out because of the shadows.
Great shot! Congrats!

Oh, well. Another example of fact that world is small and people have similiar customs. Fine photo. And compare this one: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Poland/photo267760.htm

Hi Ricardo, this is a great action shot of this old man. The expression on his face shows us that he is really absorbed by his kite flying. I like the little kid looking on - it enhances the gaze of the old man.

Boa focajem e enquadramento geral. Boa luz, cores e captura do momento.
Fernando

Hej Ricardo,
A very nice picture of this man, being busy flying kite. The kid is very nice too and I don't find it a problem his head's partly missing. :-) Good work and thanks for sharing!

I like the expressions that you have captured on these two faces, Ricardo - they complement each other. I am not troubled by your framing cutting off the head of the child behind - any lower and it would have been a problem, but you have the eyes and furrowed forehead in the frame which are the important elements. Good focus and DOF. Cheers . . . David
