Photographer’s Note
The old city wall of Dali, is one of the best preserved in China. It was snowing in the mountains at the back (Cang Shan), which are 4,000 metres above sea level. Fortunately, it only rained in Dali town. A week later, the town had 1-2 metres of snow.
I was attracted to the pagoda, appearing at the vanishing point, where the wall ends. This is not one of the more famous '3 pagodas', which are off to the right of this image.

These are some strong leading lines you have here, taking our eyes to the pagoda and these beautiful blue-green mountains. I love the inclusion of the lone person who helps us connect with the shot. A really good and interesting shot, Chris - well done.

Hi Chris, you kind of confused me with Dali. I thought about Salvatore Dali, but I was surprised to see sth of him in China. Now, your comment made it clear that there are other Dali's than the painter ;-)).
You captured the wall very good; your pov gives a good depth to the image. Startling background. Very nice image; thanks for sharing.

Hi Chris,
Nice perspective with the wall dominating the village and the village showing itself small sandwiched between the wall and the mountains.
Well seen

Hi Chris,
Nice and strong linear perspective. Although there is so much contrast with the background yet the harmony and unity is there. The size of the wall and the mountains are well portrayed and the low clouds give good atmospheric feel. Syabas!! Regards.

Hi Chris,
A wonderful composition, with great lines and colour. The eye travels along the wall well into the frame. Your DOF is superb and the mountains preside neatly over the scene. Well cropped and framed in an artistic manner. I like this shot very much.

Hi Chris! Didn't know about this "great wall" until I saw your pic. Very good catch, I can see how big/high the wall is using the man as a reference! The mountain and pagoda make a beautiful background! Thanks for sharing this! rgds.

Hi Chris. Wow what a strong shot! The use of the straight leading line and the vanishing point blows me away. I think this easily overcomes the lackluster sky. Well done Chris!!

Hi Chris,
Great perspective that acts as a strong leading line, the perspn give a good idea about how huge is the place, the majestuous mountains freshly covered by snow provide an attractive background, I had never heard of this city before...
Have a nice day,

Good way to frame this shot with the converging perpspective of the wall at the side spotting immediatly this lonely man, you know why this walls are so well preserved .... they used rice-flower in the cement.

Hi Chris,
I think this is the greatest perspective picture of your portfolio. The stone wall give excellent depth, together with the lanterns, very beautiful work here.
