Photographer's Note
The Choi Hung Estate is located in the Wong Tai Sin district of Kowloon.
It was built in 1962 and consists of 11 blocks of public rental housing.
In Cantonese 'choi hung' means rainbow - hence the seven colours used in the estate.
I took this photo this morning from a flat on the 16th floor of a nearby residential block, which overlooks the estate.
The sun was very strong this morning and so the colours seemed to stand out even more than usual.
[The hot summer weather has finally arrived in Hong Kong, because when you walk around the streets you can see people using their umbrellas to shield themselves from the sun.]
Tech: Resized and sharpened. Then add to crop to reduce file size. Added black border.

Dramatic city scape, and excellent PoV. Good use of the road to frame the lower part.

Hi Andrew,
A great composition with so many colours - not only in the buildings, but also in the vehicles and the vegetation, which brings a good balance to the shot.

Hi Andrew,
Wonderful sharpness, but the buildings its exactly a box of bricks, the colours together with the horizontal an vertical lines give a lovely composition, good perspective too.
Have a nice weekend,
John.

Wow, what an amazingly detailed photo, Andrew. The special light situation helped you a lot to render a maximum amount of graphical elements in this view of the residential area. Very good foreground provided by the curving highway. I like it.

Hi Andrew. One can feel the veritable pulse of the city with this well composed shot. The DOF here is fabulous. Dynamic and colourful, I very much like your POV. The clarity of the buildings is extraordinary. Well seen and rendered.

It's probably the light, Andrew, creating the impression of a scale model. The strong light coming from behind you look very artificial, almost omni-directional, as if it's coming from a fluorescent lamp. So all details - like in a model - are perfectly rendered. The cars, buses and trucks look so nice - almost like Dinky Toys. The streets and buildings look so clean and organized. And the trees look almost like those found om miniature railways, made from sticks and sponges. It's only when you look at the top part of the picture, you actually see that the residential area goes on and on... To catch this you've made good use of the light together with your chose POV, but most of all your cropping contributes to this somewhat surrealistic impression. Very well done!

Again it is so clean and sharp with excellent colors throughout. The view of the complex is nice in that you get it very well in its context with some good lines to direct the eye, such as the lower wing connecting the taller ones. The road adds a nice bottom boundary and a lot of extra context with the sound of the city as well.
