The sun setting on the Wall at around 4:30pm on a cold winter day, casting on it a warm glow against the faint hills in the distance.

Being the best maintained, this is the most-visited section. You don't see anyone in this picture because most visitors had already left.

On his historical trip to China in 1972, U.S. president Richard Nixon visited Badaling. He said: "It sure is a great wall." I guess it means he liked it.

Wow, beautiful perpective and composition. The low light is excellent and brings out some beautiful warm tones on the wall. The surrounding hazy landscape adds a mystic atmosphere. Well captured!

When I imagine the great wall this is the view that pops into my head.
Its excellent in every way, except possibly that such a classic is already there in my head so a photo is possibly superflous, but you can hardly call that a criticism.
For years I (and most other people) believed that the great wall was the only man made structure that could be seen from space with the naked eye, but recently when the Chinese sent up an astronaut it turned out that this is untrue and it cannot be seen. It was Chinese propaganda all along. ha ha ha

Quite an impressive shot with beautiful, soft light. The wall has a snake-like, undulating quality due to your beautiful POV and composition.

Very nicely done! Of course the light is great, and I like how the wall comes out of the entire left side of the image.

Great shot. The wall seems to finish off into eternity, and you can really feel the majesty, length and greatness. Can't wait to see the wall for myself. Well done!

I've been to the Great Wall many years back, the real thing is great but most often than not, it's stunning photos that can really bring out the greatness of the monument to the max...and this one is one of them!

Excellent lighting and composition, this is a truly superb shot.

One of the better Great Wall shots that I've seen. I really like how the wall starts off at the edge of the frame and moves on into the deep background...the time of day and slight haze in the air have done well to give this shot a sort of magical quality. I really like the golden colors as well. Nothing to nit pick here...quite an interesitng shot. Well done.

Great photo here, the lighting is good so that the colours in the wall are brilliant, the overexposure in the sky isnt a hinderence in this photo it is the effect that makes it!

I was at this section of the Wall during Golden Week this past May. If you want a good laugh, check out the difference in foot traffic between your shot and mine. The sharpness in your foreground and the mist in the background is an appealing blend.

An unusual angle to take the great wall, the low sun adds much to the mystique.
