Hi Joe, I like your perspective here with the family enjoying the scene we have before us. I like the curvature of the shoreline too - it frames the picture well. I have been to China several times but never to Chengde - I think I should go there one day.
The sky is bleached in the top right, I guess the sun was probably in the wrong place. Also the sky is a bit noisy in the top left - NeatImage might help with this.

I like your work and this is the first photo of yours which I ctitique.
What has attract me to it is the choice of lens and of your position. I wonder whether flash was used in this case. It certainly looks like it. Even though it's an ordinary scene you've managed to transmit an aura of mystery. A very strong element is also the umbrella, the way it covers the head of the woman. Technically there are some flaws, noise and overblown highlights, but they don't succeed to diminsh the value of the picture.
