Photographer's Note

Typical of what I saw in the streets of Hong Kong. Profusion and color. Well, this is a classic shot ain't it? So I tried to add a pinch on salt in the PP...

PS: Note to you photo gear maniacs (me included!)you can see "Stanley Street" on one of the signs...this is one of the streets in HK to find some gear.

hi Philippe,
it might be a classic shot but the framing and the "selection" of the sings, plus the colours and the PP (slight vignetting?) make it a very enjoyable one.
Should I ever go to HK, I'll keep the address in mind :)
(do I read Italy station..? we're everywhere! :)

I was looking for some interesting image to comment, and I have found this. Then I saw that it was yours. Anyway I like this chaos, this signs that fill the frame. Very chinese in all senses !

Excellent image that seems to sum up all the influences of Hong Kong in one frame. The Photoshop work youve done on it also looks great.

Pas facile le langage des signes! Trop d'information tue l'information mais pas l'image! Excellent cadrage serré qui souligne le mélimélo de pubs et j'aime beaucoup les tons d'image que tu as obtenus.

Hello Phillipe,

your image looks nice and calm due to the composition, although hong kong is a lively and busy place. I think taking it with the high focal length even enhances the narrow view of the street. Well done and best regards, F.

tiens, c'est bizarre, on ne peut pas écrire pizza en chinois? J'aime beaucoup l'effet graphique de ce méli-mélo de panneaux dans lequel les signes chinois et les couleurs apportent une grande beauté.J'adore cette écriture!C'est superbement mis en valeur âr ton cadrage serré.Excellent!

Hey Phil!... What are you doing??

Obligé de se rabattre sur les archives afin de se rappeler que tu existes!... il faut sortir la caméra des tiroirs et publier!

J'avoue qu'après une visite en Asie, c'est peut-être difficile de se stimuler dans les rues de son bled, mais pourtant, tu avais amorcé une série de façades décrépites qui avait un potentiel d'intérêt élevé, du moins à en juger les premières.

En attendant donc, je viens saluer cette séries d'enseignes tout à fait représentatives des rues de Hong Kong. La désaturation partielle convient bien au sujet en apportant un côté encore plus glauque.

À bientôt peut-être...

Very HKK, but I can't get enough of shots like this. Knowing a good handful of Chinese characters only makes this stronger. In the picture I like the slightly detoned look here, including a bit of a vignetting effect.

Simply funtastic & a shot that stands out, even among the many great pictures you've posted recently.
