Change.....the purposeful well adorned stride of the emerging middle class in downtown Chongqing - but the man carries not three but four burdens these days - the classical ones of home, health and education (to come) but also that of the desire for conspicuous consumption.....

Great photograph Kev,
very, very intriguing (like many of the best photos). The viewer is left tantalised by questions as to whether there is an genuine connection between the two main characters, or whether they just happened to appear in your frame at the right time.
I like the slight hint of movement you have given the people in the picture. Nice one.

The scene says so much about nowedays.
Top class street photography.

Lovely shot. Really like the b&w version. You have done a great job in capturing modern day China - its fast moving, men and women are making the world into business and the burden of family life is all dipicted in this shot.
Thank you for sharing

Her movement and stride drew me into the image, the perspective and depth give a sense of the bustling modern consumerist society. Your note is very apt.

Now that China has overpassed Japan, this is quite documentary!
Sharpness, exposure, pov, black borders, pp, contrasts and, above all, composition are all excellent here!
TFS - congrats!

A strong photo, well documenting the huge transformation of urban China. From my visits to China I retain a strong impression that the chinese are multiplying our mistakes in building a materialistic and consumption oriented society...

another great shot - love the perspective and the insight into all that surrounds the couple in the foreground, as well as the roles they (seem to) play here.
it's interesting that your last photos form China include always someone on the move - kind of symbolic for how this country is speeding towards its future.
