Drying loundry in monastery in Lhasa, Tibet.
Drepung Monastery is one of the "great three" Gelukpa university monasteries of Tibet. The other two are Ganden and Sera.Drepung is the largest of all Tibetan monasteries. Freddie Spencer Chapman reported, after his 1936-37 trip to Tibet, that Drepung was at that time the largest monastery in the world, and housed 7,700 monks, "but sometimes as many as 10,000 monks."
It was founded in 1416. Drepang was the principal seat of the Gelugpa school until the Great Fifth Dalai Lama constructed the Potala and it retained the premier place amongst the four great Gelugpa monasteries.
Drepung was known for the high standards of its academic study, and was called the Nalanda of Tibet, a reference to the great Buddhist monastic university of India. In the late 1930s Drepung was divided into four colleges, each housing monks from a different locality

Ciao Malgo,
mi piace questa interpretazione del "washing day"bin un posto tanto bello e suggestivo.
I colori della biancheria risaltano splendidamente dall'architettura scura. Ottimo lavoro.
Un abbraccio, buona giornata.

Ciao Malgorzata
very, very good pic! I like the framing you chose and the warm colors...we're used to see drying clothes in other, different situations, this one is really original and I like it alot. Have a nice (washing) day!

Hi Malgorzata,
a very good daily life shot with the laundry adding colour to the interesting architecture. The note is very interesting and your workshop is quite a contrast to it: How dictatorships can be involuntarily funny...
Have a nice day

You have been to Tibet too! My God what a traveller!
I like a lot this interior view of the monastery: the dilapidated balcony reminds me of India and the red garments contrasts wonderfully with the dark walls.
A fine and artistic document, highly graphic and clear.
Have a nice day,

the antiquity of this Monastery is also seen from this beautiful photograph.
The color contrast of the red robes of monks nicely captures the eye in this picture of daily life inside the monastery. An interesting image captured by your good eye, brava!

Hello Malgorzata,
A not so often seen part of daily life in a monastery. The colours of the clothes match those of the windows and pillars quite well. A nicely cropped picture.

Hi Malgorzata
It seems the splendor of the past has faded, the crumbling walls are a pain, and the lack of light enhances the feeling of constriction. But... the vivid colors of the clothes, drying on the balustrade, are enlightening the scene and provide a desperately needed sign of life. You found an intriguing and eye-catching way to frame it... bringing out both the interest of the architecture and of the lifestyle. Bravo.

Hi Malgorzata,
Yes, some red details can always lighten up a picture, and I see that you have included many of them here. This must have been a very interesting place and I hope you didn´t do anything the local police wouldn´t approve of! A very funny sign...
Kind regards

Cześc
Po wnikliwym przypatrzeniu można się domyślić że to buddyjski klasztor - te kolory i ornamentyka ścian.
Biednie tu ale i duchowo. Dobrze skadrowane zdjęcie, i bardzo sugestywne.

Hello Malgorzata
A very colourful image thanks to the coloured robes being hung for drying. The framing could have been bettered but the old building of the monastery comes out well...
