FOUR LITTLE PEOPLE, Xing Ping Photo

Photographer’s Note

Photo of four squatting children taken at a friend's village upriver from Xing Ping, near Yangshuo in Guangxi province. The image has been scanned from a 35mm colour negative using an Epson V500 scanner.

I like the pose, unfortunately the light was poor and the kids were moving a bit so it didn't come out so well. In an attempt to salvage the image I've applied a Dry Brush filter to soften up the appearance and mitigate the poor focus somewhat.

Hi... this should have been a great photo if not as what you have said that it did not come out right... I guess maybe what you could have done is put it in black and white an apply a bit of blur and tone it down. but still a great photo.. cheers

It reminds me of the photos they had in China in the 60's which were coloured manually : same noise, same texture and fading colours. As you say lack of sharpness with kiddies moving around
