Photographer’s Note
Alone I have remembered every harsh word they said
And I have dreamed that I was dead
Alone I have imagined how sorry they would be
Never to forget, while I would be free
Alone I have discovered that I will not die
death is only a selfish lie
Alone I have ascertained that pain is part of life
anguish is all a part of the strife
Alone I have found that the world is not fair
And your friends won't always be there
Alone I have learned on myself to depend
there I have found my best friend.

Hi Kamran.
An unusual, somewhat intriguing shot. Is one to presume that he carries all his possessions in that suitcase? Or is he just waiting for a ferry? Perhaps I'm reading too much into it. But it's certainly an evocative photo, bringing lots of thoughts to mind, not just loneliness or solitude. Nostalgia, longing, regret, perhaps, among other things. Simple but effective in the stark b/w. Perhaps a bit too big an expanse of water there, but the large, modern boats provide a nice contrast to the single figure.

Andrew

Hello Kamran,
Whatever connection there may be between the picture and the poem (possibly none) they do match each other well. I could imagine all kinds of things from a picture like this. Good photos are like good movies or good paintings, they don't tell everything like it is, they leave a bit to the spectator.
Have a nice time,
Gert

Asalamalaikum Kamran, my favourite storyteller! I love the story in the image and the setting in which it has been compsoed. experimental and hugely narrative, this capture is a reflection of your growing evolution my freind and I am so happy.

Hi Kamran, an interesting poem for an interesting photo that says just as much by what it's not saying. Is the man about to jump on that ferry for a day trip or is he homeless with all his possessions in that travel bag? It's a story seen in Hong Kong that could be anywhere in the world. I like the inclusion of the ferry and the luxury liner as I do the man's back being completely turned away from the camera. Really good B&W conversion too. Thanks, Lisa.

Salam Kamran. A touching photo and poem.Whether he is homeless or a traveler, it's his lonely self that is the key. Even in a group of people there is always one like this one- different, distant, introverted. the fact that we cannot see his face makes the image more poignant, as it could be anyone of us at some stage in our lives. regards. Klaudio.

Hi Karman
Good composition, using the rule of threes. B&W makes a good contribution to the ambiance of the shot.

Salam Kamran,
His way of clothing looks like a traveler but his pose says something else! it is as if he envies those who are in the ferry n it is my scenario! ..B n W has been a good choice n the compo is very effective to activate the viewer's imagination ..great poem.. tfs

Hello Kamran, not sure what happened here but I comment on this several days ago & it's gone, maybe I forgot to click the ADD button, but when I first looked at this I thought, yes waiting for the ferry, I read your note & comments from others & the thought I had was the words from the
"Boulevard Of Dreams"
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone
Read between the lines
What's f****d up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone
I walk alone
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah
I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...

Take care

Hi Kamran,
A well matched image to the poem. Many feelings emerge here: melancholia, longing, loneliness. Excellently composed and cropped.
my compliments,
Cristian
