Silkroad travels: Kashgar
Kashgar is not just a transit station of the Silk Road, it's a hub. There are Quarters of several ethnies. Here we are looking at the Uighur Chay xana (teahouse). Teahouses with low tables to sit on you find over much of Central Asia. Wearing the tübätay is also a Central Asian custom.
The picture was taken by my cyclist friend Blaise with whom I travelled for some days until Kashgar. |
