downtown Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The architecture is traditional and is the best known symbol of Urumqi. There are many Barzars here.

Urumqi, the name of the city means "beautiful pastureland" in ancient Junggar Mongolian.
Urumqi is located at the northern foot of the Tianshan Mountains. Its population of 2 million is made of Han and other 47 minority nationalities like Uygur, Kazak, Hui, Mongolians and others, who lived here and created its distinctive culture.
The culture of the Central Plains, India, Europe and Central Asia gathered and exchanged here.

Hi Zhongyi. I like the busy feel of the place and of course the architectural details.I just saw a film yesterday which was supposedly set in Afghanistan but was filmed in Kashghar. One day I would love to see this part of China. Regards. Klaudio.
