Ice mountain in the desert

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| This photo was taken at Karakul Lake (West China bordering Pakistan) located 200km from Kashgar on the Karakoram highway. This desert-like landscape (at 3600m) is situated in the Pamir plateau. The snow mountain is Mt. Muztagata (7546m). |

Sascha,
Good composition, I like the way the photo is divided into 3 distinct areas. The clash between these areas is what makes this photo great.
Could have been nice to move the camera a little upwards and include a bit more interesting clouds...
Hi Sascha,
Great colors and sharpness here. I always associate a desert with intense heat but if it's really, really high than this is offcourse not the case. The definition of a desert is that there is little waterfall but we see snow and thus water. Very confusing?! TFS, Gilbert
Wow - great shot, yes nice contrast between the desert and mountain in the snow. Best regards! Andrzej

What a striking set of textures superimposed. I don't think I have ever seen such a snow covered peak over a sandy desert before. Then add to that the fact that you have executed each layer (the desert, the mountain, and the sky) so well. I like having all that desert in the foreground.
Wonderful image.
