Photographer’s Note

The photo was taken of the Karakul lake, in the background The Muztagh ata can be seen. This kirgiz family lived there, and used the water of the lake for cooking, drinking, washing themselves and washing clothes. Their life was really simple, but they seemed happy. Their all livestock was a horse and a young camel, which was very curiously wondering around. They told me they have one room (apart from the 2 yurts which are used as accommodations for visitors) where 3 generations live together. They had a huge bed \where the grandfather, grandmother, father mother and the 3 little children slept. The father of the family was 26, but looked so much older than his age, probably because of the harsh climate, day and night. Very nice and peaceful place...

Beautiful photo. I love the colour and depth in the image. Lovely DOF. Very simple tones in the image but they work so well. Really great image. TFS.

well composed and executed, a great moment captured.. good job on the metering... perhaps i'd have liked some more of their reflections, but maybe you had land there...

Lovely photo. I like the vertical composition, with it's depth of field, and the timing is great. It is a little blurry, though, and it would be nice to have that hair in the top right of the pic gone. But still great stuff!

Hi Zsuzsanna, Vey good composition. The colours and setting have a wonderful ambiance. The three men just taking the heavy water away from the lake is a good scene. I think simple happy life is the way to be. TFS. Murray.

Very nice shot. Great colours and a really good moment captured. I think it could have been improved slightly if you had managed to include the full reflection of the men.
