Photographer’s Note

My recent trip to East Turkistan (Xinjiang) province of China was marked with numerous visits of all sorts of local markets. At one of them we met a local Kazakh guy who showed us samples of Kazakh crafts his family had made. Beautiful hand made rugs, bed covers and pillow cases immediately attracted attention of the passers by. This Uyghur aksakal was very curious about the crafts. While he was standing there pondering about something I decided to take this shot of him.
So here it goes, an Uyghur man looking at a Kazakh rug in what is now called Chinese Xinjiang province.
