Photographer’s Note

As we were driving through the center of Turpan, where there seems to be more "donkey-carts" than cars, we came to a stop at an intersection. I was immediately drawn to a group of people eagerly making there way to this blue type of vehicle. I had no idea what they were in a hurry for, so I had my camera ready for something. I then saw everyone reaching in and pulling out these large yellow melons. I quickly took the shot as I saw the man holding the melon turn away. Hami melons are very popular in this region of China. There are about 20 different varieties. Later that day, after I tasted one, I realized why the men were in such a hurry to be the first ones to grab a melon.
