Silkroad travels: Kashgar quintnessential
The picture of the mosque goers , the Id Kah mosque and the three trees holds some quintessential information about this river oasis and the Silk road hub. Let me start: i) the tübätey hats are found all over Turkestan. Turkestan was before the conquest by the Red Army a loose entity of mostly Turk speaking people. Today's Kazachstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and the Chinese Xin Jiang province were part of it. ii) The loess dust in the air reminds us that the dry, hot& cold Taklamakan desert is not far. iii) the fruit trees are: fig, mulberry, pomegranate, all three species are important for food production, the mulberry additionally for feeding silkworms. iv) in the city center (Id Kah and People's squares) the traditional and the modern mix. |

Hallo Dieter!
