Silkroad travels: Xinjiang

On the way to our last pass Taktudulak Daban (2'460 m asl.) and before reaching Kansu we passed this pasture in the river valley. Next day should be all downhill on a good asphalted road.

A few years ago, it was difficult to get a permission for travel by bicycle on this road: at the Chinese border you had to upload your bike on a truck or bus. Today things have much improved for tourists, there were no police checks between Customs and Kashgar.

Technical stuff: the Camel's head hidden in the grass had to be freed somewhat by stamping. An incongruent telephone pole in the background was removed. The rest as usual. Forgive me, purists.

A real shame that a photo of this quality only gets two points. The politics of TE. This is a great shot, showing the mountains in the background, and the lone camel in the foreground chomping on some very green grass.

Regards,
David

This is an inspiring photo; I love the colours and layers in the rocks.
