Shot taken from the same location from my previous upload, in Gulja Uighur old quarter.
Laghman or pulled noodle, the Uighur version of spaghetti, is the most basic food commonly found in Xinjiang. Watching this being made is greatly entertaining. The speed at which a cook transforming the dough into bowlfull of noodles by banging, pulling, twisting into long thinner strings and managing to keep all the strands separate is really incredible. Laghman is quickly boiled and then served with stew of mutton or beef, tomatoes, chillies and other vegee, sometimes the noodles are stir-fried along with the same ingredient.

Salam dear Abmdsudi.A charming chef with an engaging smile and a deft pair of hands. I have seen noodle making demos in Melbourne by Chinese chefs. incredible how the strands multiply each time they are stretched. The food sounds delicious.1/40 of asecond has created a blur suggesting speed of operation. Salam. (You have probably heard about the furor in Australia about the goings on in Indonesian abattoirs.)

This is just the case to say: a good and timing capture!
I guess It was not easy to froze the man while doing his job!
And you framed well the scene isolating the man from the rest of the environment. Fine light and above all a nice smile!

Very beautiful daily life-picture and portrait of this man at work. The noodles are as long as the length of his arms spread open.
I've seen the same scene at the market in Kashgar.
Best regards, Paul

A wonderful portrait of this man in action making noodles. The blurred action of his hand is great. I think that you have included just the right amount of the scene without taking the eyes away from the man with his friendly smile. A great TE contribution and the note is interesting.
Kind Regards, Ann

Fine capture of the noodle maker in action with motion blur giving good sense of movement. He does not need to look at his job and can stare directly into your lens without affecting the product's quality and looks!

What a fascinating photo. I love anything that has to do with food, especially food typical to a region. So this photo has it all in my opinion. The motion blur of his hands is fantastic as it shows the necessary motion in making these noodles and also adds a sense of dynamism and reall life. Everything else in the frame is perfectly sharp, defined and coloured. Excellent daily life shot, thanks for sharing.
josepmarin (57267) 2011-06-08 0:47
a very spontaneous capture, in which this man makes the noodles, while he smiles and looks nicely at the photographer.
The image has a great vitality, a good light and a few very natural and perfectly saturated colors.
I like the effect of the movement in the noodles, that it adds a subtle dynamism to the scene.
BennyV (13378) 2011-06-08 4:37
Superb action shot of this Uighur noodle maker, dear Abmdsudi. Thanks for constantly posting really quality shots. Cheers.
sevy (15009) 2011-06-09 23:25
Nice daylife shot with the action of the cooker given by the low shutter speed and with his smile as proud to be taken in photo.
Perhaps the background is a bit too much there, but perhaps you had not a luminous lens with you. Sometimes we have to manage with what we have.
Waylim (24482) 2011-06-16 18:49
More food, love the motion blur in the noodle. Wish to be there and tasting all the wonderful local cuisine.
Angshu (53966) 2011-06-17 6:29
Two things which attract at first glance...the nice mellow light which falls on his face from the left & the motion blur created by the continuous stretching & twirling of the noodles. His joyful eyes definitely add to the picture. Good daily life shot my friend!
jmdias (50325) 2011-06-23 3:23

I like the motion blur as the man rapidly twist, pulls and twirls his noodles into the shape and length required. I think that it must be great to watch as you are describing, and at the end tasty too.
