Photographer's Note
Taken through the window of the aircraft using the zoom function. The image was scanned into the computer, colour adjusted to reflect the original, then the levels were slightly adjusted and the image was slightly sharpened in ps.
Most of these mountains were bare and brownish grey; however, closer to Lhasa a few peaks began to shine in white. Apparently there exists a high-way, a dirt track, between Chengdu (Capital of Sichuan province of China) and Lhasa. A regular bus service connects these two cities. It has a reputation for being the most dangerous road in the world with frequent landslides and icy cover. The bus trip takes approximately a week over about 1000km of ground and cliff, taking passengers through these mountains. For those who value their life, flying may be the best alternative.

This view from a plane is wonderful. I like the colours, the shadows and the contrast. Bravo!

Your note is very interesting, so thanks for sharing it with us. It is a part of the world that most if us will never see. The photo is good too, although there is not much in it that I can use to judge the scale of it. However, I am sure that those mountains and the glacier path are HUGE!

Miroslava, your mountain pictures are so sharp they can be used as guide maps. I wonder how you managed to achive this quality shooting through the plane window.
