Photographer’s Note
Those kids were a whirlwind of smiles, poses and play.
They live in a small village somewhere between Lhatse and Basecamp. We just rolled in on the motorbikes along a dusty road to have a look.
I guess they don't get a lot of foreigners there, cause they were all over the place, jumping, yelling, laughing. And when we pulled up our cameras, they were full of poses and suggestions for pics, we could take of them. The elders were sitting around, a bit more sceptically retreated watching the spectable.
It would have been nice to be able to communicate better with them, but they didn't speak Chinese.
One trace of Chinese presence there was a new and shining solar-energy system, which seemed almost like a UFO in this remote, rustique village. Not everything the Chinese do in Tibet is bad, I guess, and it is always good to revise and nuance your ideas..
But anyway, the pic is not about China or solar-energy systems, its just about those kids...
