Photographer's Note

Among the first pictures I scanned after getting myself a scanner some five years ago were those I had taken during a long journey to China in 1986.

For most of those pictures the result wasn't very good. I posted some here, but most were too bad for showing. When I recently had another look at those unpublished pictures I decided to give them another try, because I really liked some of them.

So now I have rescanned a number of photos, mainly from Tibet which probably was the highlight of the journey.

This is a street in the central part of Lhasa, capital of Tibet. I think parts of Lhasa have changed tremendously since 1986 and become just like any other Chinese city. However, I believe this central area around the revered Jokhang Temple, the holiest temple of TIbetan Buddhism, probably looks more or less the same today.

This is from a Kodachrome slide.
