Photographer’s Note
The monks at Samye Monastery in Lhasa holding a debate in the courtyard. When quoting the Buddha monks would clap to emphasize the importance of the words (or this is how it was explained to me). The standing monk on the left presents an argument (and quoting it using a teaching from the Buddha - hence the swinging arm) while the sitting monks listen and offer rebuttals.
