Photographer's Note
Years have passed. And I, I always wear my Mao suit. This suit has always been the traditional costume of the farmers, and Mao had imposed it to all the Chinese in sign of austerity and simplicity. But today, we proudly wear it, he can be so elegant, don’t you find? They were hard, these years under Mao's regime, we were poor, very poor, and the madness of this head of state provoked the death of tens and tens of million Chinese.
But today, everything became supple, China became rich, and I look with surprise at these troops of tourists, come from 4 corners of our country, which want to take advantage of this new life which offers itself to them. They are funny, very elegant, they photograph all that they can, and take advantage of all these shops selling luxury goods which replaced our wooden houses.
I like to come to sit me on this square, and to contemplate this joy of living, it is so different from what I knew when I was young.

Hello Pascale,
Deep in thoughts, maybe contemplating the strange changes going on in her village, making a face that she wouldn't do if consciously posing. A beautifully spontaneous portrait with great sharpness and light management.
Wishing you a fine end of this year and a successful 2012.

Bonjour Pascale,

Hi Pascale,
She looks very anachromatic this way, like a very old schoolgirl.
Fine portrait with a lot of wrinkels and a good blurred background.
Have a great time,
Gerrit

Nice light on his face and good choice of DOF, I like especially how the lantern stays prominent in the bokeh

Hello, wonderful portrait with an excellent light. The colors are bold and the blurred bg really brings the eye right to the face. Lucky there ere so many primary colors to accentuate your photo.

Hi Pascale
You've captured an excellent expression! and it's the concentration of her look says alot about her life experience and the sheer determination. So much character and feeling to this shot and the shalllow dof and slightly dark background has brought out the detail superbly. It's always interesting to see photos of cultures so different than what we are accustomed to. Excelent for it has that extra pictorial narrative element. Sincerely I do believe this image can benefit from is a little under expose especially to enhance those wonderful life lines in her face. Well done
Warm regard

Hi Pascale,
The portraits of yours are getting fantastic day by day. I can clearly see the difference between your china trip and other trips. These are of different genere. Not only they are technically very good they also have a personal touch and contact in almost all of them.
Great Work

Bonsoir Pascale,
Amicalement, Paul
