Photographer’s Note

In contrast to busy street market posted earlier http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/China/photo98201.htm , here is a quieter corner of Hong Kong, off the shores of Sai Kung.

Sai Kung is a coastal district in the NE side of Hong Kong, and is known for its beautiful scenery, a few remaining small fishing and farming villages and stunning land and seascapes.

Hong Kong locals love Sai Kung for its pristine beaches, many of which are not accessible by land, but only by yachts like this one or private / hired boats. This keeps visitors down, which helps to preserve the area's beauty.

Sai Kung is surrounded by hills, which protects the coastlines, the bays and the beaches. In turn, the mountains offer nice hiking trails for an easy hour’s walk, or demanding full day treks.

Hongkongers are grateful that natural beauties like this are still well preserved.
