Photographer's Note

Here is the first picture I took at the observation deck located on the 100th floor(393 metres above sea level) of the International Commerce Centre, the tallest building in Hong Kong.
And unfortunately it was also the best photo I was able to shoot there.I had a bad luck with the foggy weather(actually during my whole stay),but also the windows were dirty and reflected the lighting.
In WS I attach other photo showing how disappointed other people were:)
And one other thing-if you ever be in Hong Kong and want to visit this place-the entrance is in underground parking.God,it was really a challange to find it:)

Hello Krzystof,

to me, it looks like a looking into a caleidoscope! I get somehow dizzy even from looking at this photo. What´s real? What´s reflection? Is there an other level below it? No, it isn´t because there are the same yellow dressed people, so it´s just another reflection. Did I say "yellow dressed people"? It´s just one person in yellow.
For some reason, I would not dare to walk there. Looks like you could slip and break through the floor.

Anyway, perfect symmetry, good colors, and the perfect illusion.

A most unbeliavable shot! If it were not for the people in the centre I could not have told what's real and what is a reflection! And the colours are just wonderfully mixed together!

Looking at the picture in the WS I can imagine the view must be awesome. Understood on a clear day and with clear windows. Really too bad you had foggy weather during your whole stay in Hong Kong. Perhaps the time of the year ?
So perhaps the main purpose to visit that tallest building has become the reflections. These are absolutely wonderful and they're everywhere on the picture. A good name for the building could be the International Reflections Centre :)

Hello Krzysztof - Hmmm, I see what you mean about how disappointing the view was but you came away with an original shot and one that shows the slick, modern commercial side of the city. I love the composition and the way all the reflective surfaces bounce back the central image with the 3 figures. The colours are fabulous. I would be really pleased if this was in my gallery! First let me congratulate you for this picture in stunning blue and reflectons, marvelous photojob.
As for the WS, I think it doe's conveys the dissappointment people had when looking out - but HK has this type of weather 5 out of 7 days - all the time: when we were there in 3/2008 happend just the same, although lucky last day and a half.
Fog is also some nature's phenomenon, there are places when it comes only in 4 days annually, on avarage: Israel.

la tua è una di quelle foto che lascia il segno e non passa certamente inosservata.
Hai sfruttato il colore e la serie infinita di riflessi per trarne una composizione dal grande impatto visivo che si trasforma in un quadro astratto nel quale la realtà si confonde con la fantasia in un effetto gradevole per la disposizione di forme e di colori.

wow, that's a kaleidoscope in the most magical blue color that I love so much! Stunning picture, the light and reflections are amazing! Those small figures bring in sort of hi-tech advertisement feel to it. Love it, just perfect!

Co za wspaniala kompozycja Wow!!!!!. Niesamowicie piekne i bardzo ciekawe zdjecie. Strzal w dziesiatke. Gratulacje. Bardzo podoba mi sie niebieski kolor, to jest jeden z najbardziej ulubionych. Quite a special reflection effect, with blue walls giving adding sort of scifi ambience. Those flower features look quite surprising too. A pity you didn't have luck with weather. It was much better next week.

this really is a spectacular view. From the thumnail, I genuinely had no idea what this was, but closer instpections shows a wealth of colour. I love the reflections, and the see through floor. Whoever thought to position that flower there is a genius!

Surrealism w najlepszym wydaniu! Musialam sie dluga chwile przygladac, zanim dotarlo do mnie co jest rzeczywistoscia a co odbiciem w tym zdjeciu. Naprawde dobry przyklad, jak zrobic swietne zdjecie mimo niesprzyjajacej pogody. Super kolory i bardzo udana kompozycja.

You certainly made the most of the bad weather with this wonderful internal shot. It just gets better photo after photo, you really have done an amazing job. The blue tones are beautiful, as is the graphism and perspective. It's difficult to understand what's real and what's reflection.

A shame about the view here, Krzysztof, but you used your photographer's instinct well here to find the great shot others likely missed. Amazing the sheer number of layers and reflections hidden here, in glass and polished floor that gives everything crystal clarity. The bright colors of the walls and window decorations allow the whole frame to glow beautifully. Outstanding shot!

this is how its suppose to be done - a great photo with a great story and also a great WS photo...can't get any better than this.
they all blend in together so flawlessly.
the WS photo clearly shows the dis-interest of the people, and the posted photo shows the complete opposite of the bad weather and dull colors.

Hi Krzysztof,

The bright blue color is the first thing that grabbed my attention...hard to miss when it's my favorite color. :) Upon taking a closer look, this has much more to offer...a kaleidoscope effect with the pinwheel in the distance for a centerpiece makes for a very captivating image. The weather may not have been in your favor, but you certainly took full advantage of the interior with this shot! A really neat aspect of this is the floor, it looks like we're able to see down a level because of the reflection. A solid composition and sharp focus, very well conceived and executed.
