Photographer's Note
This was taken while walking the financial district of Hong Kong. Hong Kong is one of the world's most important financial centres. The density of skyscrapers (apartment blocks and commercial buildings) are bewildering. About seven million people live on 426 sq. miles and is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. This Special Administrative Region is part of the Peoples's Republic of China (since 1997).
Despite the huge number of people walking the streets it is very orderly crossing the road at traffic lights or on elevated (and often air-conditioned) walkways. I remark on this because I am in Hanoi now where crossing the street cannot in anyway be described as orderly or safe!

Hi Ann, What a traveller you are lately, first mexico , and now Hong Kong. Superb graphic compositio n, excellent crop, great colours and sharpness.
Well, the crossing of the street is not easy in Hanoi with all these bikes going without rules. I stood quite helpless and it happened sometimes that someone took my hand and went with me on the other side, like with a kid :).
Warm regrads from Warsaw

Hi Ann
you're travelling a lot to discover new countries and habits! A tilt which emphasis the buildings walls, in concrete or in glass, and superb mixed reflections in the blue-grey hues.
It seems there is no crisis in this city!
cheers

Hello Ann,
A great 'take' on these buildings to produce a diagonal pattern full of different textures and subtle colours. What really pleased me was the fact that I found myself viewing the shot from different angles. A shot that becomes interactive has done something very special.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Ann - This is lovely. I like the diagonal tilt and the light and reflections bring a luminosity to the shot which is beautiful. The colour palette is soft and harmonious and textures good. A well managed and very successful shot.Enjoy your trip. Rosemary
PS. About crossing the road. Abmdsudi gave a great lesson on how to do it . Here is the link http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/Vietnam/photo1387175.htm

Hello dear Ann
I hear on the grapevine the you;re globetrotting at the moment and wish you a safe and wonderful trip. This composition is very unusual for your Gallery, it's not often we see modern architecture and graphism. But you prove yourself just as able in the urban jungle as you do in the natural landscape. Wonderful colours and luminosity and of course the diagonal lines are a masterstroke. Great shot, congrats.
Warm regards

Hello Ann,
Having left HK last year after living there for 10 years your photo takes me back to my "Asian home"
Congratulations on an interesting and effective composition of the skyscrapers which are often quite difficult to capture well.
Stay safe on the rest of your travels. Looking forward to seeing your Hanoi pics, one of my favourite Asian cities, for all that crossing the road can be a bit of a stressful experience

Hi Ann,
Excellent abstract. A great use of diagonal lines. A well presented crop allows eyes to remain fixed on the building facades. This is a really excellent photo, and is a good example of architectural mode. The excellent light and the reflections also lends a lovely contrast to the scene. Well done.

Hello Ann,
beautiful scene. Thanks to the way you composed it,I mean especially the tilted perspective, but also excellently chosen close-up we get really brilliant composition to admire. It looks almost like a part of a modernist works of art,and not the facades of skyscrapers.Eye-catching composition with strong graphical effect.
Have a nice sunday

Hi Ann
I crack my head trying to figure out the reality hovering around trying to settle in since all needs closer look and this gives this image a busy dynamic feel and this is great way to tickle our old brain cell a bit at the same time. A mind blowing stuff indeed and what a great shapes, reflections, perspective, distortions and lines combination seen from an exciting neck-breaking viewpoint. This works for great abstract-graphism and so much vibrancy rich in colors and superb clarity, glass crispy sharp and striking contrast. An eye-catching rendition of this wonderful shot. A remarkable and very hypnotic. Congrats.

You make smile on reading your 2nd para, you did alright and take good care, shoot lots of panning pictures and plenty of chances to practice and improve the technique and hopefully nothing drastic changes taking place in Hanoi old quarter.
Hav safe journey, Cheers!

A great and mildly dizzying perspective, Ann - tough to tell at first glance which way is up, especially as the reflection at center mimics water quite well, giving this almost a downward feel. The varying structures and textures make this an interesting shot to get immersed in, thanks for positing it.

Hello Ann,
Sorry I've not been critiquing for the past couple of days but I had a spot of bother with my internet connection - hopefully I've managed to resolve that now!
But you are a truly dedictated TrekEarther, posting pictures from your hotel room at the opposite side of the globe! And, of course, this one is well worth the posting too.
Again, this has your splendid "graphic" style with a fine diagonal composition which is very strong. There are some wonderful shapes and lots of differing textures here too as well as some lovely soft colours.
Perfectly taken with spot-on exposure, lovely colours and, as always, exquisite details and sharpness.
Fabulous!
Have a Great Holiday in Vietnam!
John.

Hello Ann,
This is a wonderful study of diagonals, patterns and shapes. It's hard to believe 15 years have passed since the People's Republic of China took over Hong Kong. So many of the inhabitants of the city evidently took their money and relocated — mostly in Vancouver. They have problems in Hong Kong, but by and large the PRC has use the city to its financial advantage.
Again, wonderful photo! Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Ann,
very clever composition of this world famous financial district! I like how you have made a diagonal line of the commercial buildings it looks almost like they are falling to the ground. (symbolic? who knows what happening in the future with the global financial crisis..)
Crisp and clear, Tfs!
Have a nice evening.

Hello Ann,
the tilt of the framing is really effective in such a graphical composition, in which the nice chaos of lines, geometric shapes and reflections in the buildings, creates a very powerful and very explicit image.
Less is more.
It is a great photo.

Hello Ann,
vertigo, vertigo ! the tight framing, the wide array of patterns create a dizzling effect while the light tonality of the metallic reflections gives your composition a waterlike effect.
Thanks for sharing,
Emmanuel
