hey, very nice "daily life" shot! I like the "bored man" in the middle of the picture and you see everything that is going on in the background.
It's funny how the audience are lined up the same way as the people on stage as well!
A+!

i first thought it was a rehearsal... or some kind of fine tuning.. and i quite liked this atmosphere...i like the fact that this man is watching in the opposite direction, it gives the image a cool mood as opposed to a stiff one, as some people might think of opera performances.. I have to say that i like opera and have been a faithful member of the opera de Paris for over 14 years now...;-) impressed by the small stage... nice colors and overall very busy ...no play with DOF today;-))
Interesting scene, but I'm skeptical about your shot in which I can't really find the lead lines, thus don't really understand the image.
3 "layers" of people seem well defined but within each "layer", everything seems randomly organized.
In my view you had several shots in one :
- one image would be taken behind the people in front of the scene, the actor facing the image.
- the other image would rely on the two white fans but it should be taken diagonally from behind the foreground woman.
- some people do not have to be in this scene, they simply do not fit into the image rythm. When you take such a clutterd scene you must be very careful monitoring what is going on.

Hi Maciek. I don't really have much to add here, other than to basically agree with Luko. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of inherent organization within the shot. Things seem a little random.
Are you enjoying the news lens Maciek? I am looking at buying a super WA of about the same range.
Maciek , to me there's a very 60s feel to this :)
The saturated pastels, soft lighting reminds of me of early Colourama / Technicolour- ish type of pics i saw in my mom's old Shaw Bros movie magazines as a kid, this is cool to me :)
2ndly, WRT to what luko and darren were talking about; a different name solves the problem
"Looking Away" instead of "At the Opera" puts the spotlight on the man who by turning away cuts himself from the whole scene. Anyone noticed he's the only one in a boring white polo amongst all the colours?
Actually , he caught my eye at first glance :)
Cheers , I like the pic :)

Very beautiful picture in the middle of confusion ! Very good colours and expressions.
Congratulations.

read some of the critiques but i just want to say a photo doesnt have to be about some explicit subject. when there is no order, there is chaos. lack of something equals to the presence of something else.
The layers make no sense to me but i like the contrast between performers and backstage people
but the negative point is the presence of the two heads in the foreground that are redundant in my view. i would change my viewpoint for this shot.

This is too busy for my personal taste & has no central area of focus or interest.
The 'v' shape formed from the people & centred on the tiger is nice, though. Perhaps I'd crop to emphasise this.
