just noticed how I've been posting BW pics for quite a while! so now a colour one :)

this is dug from my hard-disk, took this one year ago, 3 days after I bought the D50.

He was one of the many fishmongers and butchers there at the Gooseneck freshfood market. Even nowadays they have life seafood or 'swimming fish' (that's wht we call them) in air-conditioned supermarkets; nothing can beat the freshness & variety of choice here. and that explains why people of all social classes shop here (well, the rich just sends their filipino domestic helpers) - just round the corner are parked full of expensive mercedes (hong kongers' favorite ride) and jags (british influence, i suppose)

hope this's informative, any comments welcome :)

Hi Cheuk-Hin. A nice and atmospheric take from the fish and meat market - good that you unburied this one from the depths of your harddisk. Good use of the vertical format with a nice perspective along the narrow market alley, and a well-timed moment in the foreground showing the interaction between the merchant and the customers. Exposure is quite well-balanced with a nice rendition of the low-light atmosphere. Greetings from California.

Hello Cheuk,
Great shot, nice composition, beautifull colors and excellent sharpness.
I really like that as lots of details and all are very diferent in color and shape.
Very well done,
Daniel

Hi Cheuk
Nice daily life picture. The POV is interesting. I also like the beautifull light you get.
Excellent

Hello Cheuk, what a fantastic choice for perspective and colour here, a strong mood and light with little red accents flickering across the shot. Superb quality for the low light, am amazed how you managed to pull such sharpness from this, it is really nice and I feel completely immersed in the market, smelling all this fish and yearning for one that is so fresh. I love fish a lot, and surely I would go there a lot!

Hey Cheuk.
Colour was a great choice in this picture. The bright red makes this picture stand out. Great action shot.
Jeff.

What can I say? Not much, because it is beautiful and well done. I have myself one picture of this same market but, I guess, it is very explicit with lots of red meat (you know what I mean). I really do not know if it will be well seen here on TE. Yours is very different and show human activity around the fish bench. Well done.
Antonio

Je crois que les couleurs conviennent bien à l'ambiance de ce marché. Belle scène de vie, anomée à souhait.

You've definitely got the right idea here, Cheuk, and I commend you but... with such a darkish scene, you really needed to have the fellow look THIS way, not away from us where all we're left with is the perspective shot, know what I mean?
You were "almost" there. Give it another try, it's a cool place to shoot...
Best,
Francis

Hi CheukHin,
Lovely market shot with a lot of colour and action. Fish are clearly visible. Unlike Francis I don't feel a need to see the faces looking your way, but the woman receiving the bag is too squeezed on the edge.
Kari

Cheuk,
I like the way yu have used the light subtly!...
The details well shownn & perspective is engaging.
well done.
Prem.

A very atmospheric shot, I can alomst smell the fish. Nice perspective looking along the narrow alley, exentuated by the vertical frame. Good timing catchign the exchange of fish between merchant and his customer. Maybe would have been nice to have seen a little more of his face.

Hi Cheuk,
Fish market atmosphere is well conveyed in this pleasantly lit daily life scene, vertical frame well adapted to the situation, good colors and sharpness... Good timing in catching the exchange, hand to hand...

Hey Cheuk,

The image seems fresh as the catch! Very sharp till the end of the stall! Superb quality shot!

Perhaps you came out from your BMW or Bentley for this shoot?

Cheers!

This looks just like a fish market in Japan. But not really good variety of choice there. I have taken some photos of fishmarket but my PC got crashed and they were buried forever before I had any chance to upload them. Anyways the photo had a mood for lively market, photographically this is such a good place!

Hi Cheuck hin, a picture kind of furachanesque, or nwoehnlienne or perhaps luisafonsonne, interesting scene here on this market of hong kong, just at the moment of the "exchange of red bag". I pretty like it even if it doesn't bouleverse me ;)
Good
