[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here's a picture of my friends having yum cha (dimsum). We were celebrating the birthday of three colleagues in one dimsum place. These restaurants are usually packed, and you have to book in advance to get good seats. ... of course, the food was fabulous!

PS: Laurent, the place was orange because as in 95% of dimsum houses in HK, the place was lit by a low-lying chandelier. It is absolutely crazy, design-wise, to have a low ceiling and huge, monstrous chandeliers hanging atop just about every round table. But in HK, that's the trend :)

That's a nice picture.
Nevertheless I think you could have improve your dof, your friends look blur enough in the background, no need to change this. The focus seems really close, the dof is short, as a result some dimsum which could have been on focus are out of focus. This is how I would have done it : Let the camera focus by mid pushing the button with the camera pointing on the dimsums at middle distance (enough to get the foreground on focus) then point were you pointed and take the picture. This is rather easy with a film slr where you can check the focus by pushing a button or by looking on the focus ring. ( I don't know the name for this technique, 'focus shifting' seems okay)
Other than that I can't help be think there is too much orange tones (well the white looks white), so maybe it was really an orange place...
I like the informational part and the atmosphere.

Makes me hungry. I love your use of depth of field here, with the focus on the food that we can see.

As a life-long vegetarian, my first inclination was not to comment on this photo :)- However,on second thoughts, here goes ...

I think that focusing on the food and having your friends out-of-focus is an excellent one and I think that you have carried it through very well in terms of both focusing and exposure. This certainly captures the feeling of ravenous friends enjoying themselves. There are a couple of things that bother / distract me: the person stood on the left and the empty space at the front. I will post a workshop in which I have tried to do something about them.

special image and well presented. like all the containers in the foreground. maybe wish for a slightly higher camera angle so more can be seen in the containers. like the blurring of the figures however maybe not the crop through their heads. all that good food makes me hungrey very nice image.
