Photographer's Note
The view of Moon Hill Village from the archway of the rock formation known as Moon Hill, named on account of the eroded arch cave there that this is taken from. The weather was overcast & misty, but at least it wasn't raining. I've boosted contrast & saturation as much as I dared, stopping just before serious degradation to the image becomes apparent. Even on a dull day this view is incredible. Moon Hill is 8 km south west of Yangshuo and an entry ticket is 15 yuan. I caught a bus there, & walked back to town. 800 steps are involved in the walking track up here.

Bonjour, cher ami Chris,
L'image est impressionnante par ses montagnes formant des bosses vertes au coeur desquelles se niche un petit village.
J'aime beaucoup l'ambiance qui se dégage de la composition.
Amitiés.

Hello Chris,
The fog adds a lot to the special atmosphere of the mysterious landscape behind the town.
The contrast between the white facades of the houses and the dark mountains makes this view look like a difference between two worlds: there's the cozy, comfortable town and behind it the mountain ranges that seem inaccessible and inhospitable.
It's a wonderful and impressive sight.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Chris,
A capture which needs to be looked at twice !
At first glance it's not much atttactive; but if you once start to get familiar with the tastes than you get the feeling as if it's not a photographic capture but a Chinese İnk painting !
TFS and have a nice weekend
Best regards

The geological formations are spectacular, it's a beautiful landscape. The clear and colorful city is well placed in the foreground of dark mountains. Good despite the weather. Bravo.

Bonjour Chris,
un paysage de montagne typique du sud de l'Asie, comme on en trouve aussi en Thailande par exemple. Une photo qui est brumeuse et détache bien les plans successifs de ces montagnes.
My best regards.
Daniel.

Hi Chris.
I can imagine the difficulty of bringing out the colour and adding a bit of contrast to this misty scene. A friend of mine who visited many parts of China was virtually unable to capture any scene without a haze of pollution over it, and that was in Summer. Not that that's what we see here. Anyway, as you say the view is still incredible, even at this time of year, and you retained a good quality in the image. Those mountains really are astounding.

Andrew

Hi Chris,
The mountains are framing well the village. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the buildings and houses of the village. The hazu sky or the fog is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Chris,
What a great shot for a painter to study; it shows so clearly how the closest hills are the darkest, gradually fading as they advance into the b/g. Great depth and such a pleasing shot to scrutinise.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

ciao Chris,
particolare la dentellatura delle montagne di fondo a cui hai dato grande risalto con l'inquadratura che hai scelto.
Buona la resa delle costruzioni a valle avvolte dalla foschia,

Hello Chris
Great view with the many layers of hills in the backdrop captured really well. And far enough not the see the McDonalds signs. Or am I exaggerating? Anyway, I'll be in the area in this summer, but I still wonder whether I'll bother to visit it again. I don't want to overwrite the memories of my visit of 10 years ago, and...China is a big place, so...
Thanks for posting & have a fine week

Hi Chris,
The misty conditions add to the atmospheric effect here, making your photo look like a Chinese landscape painting. Your treatment has worked well, producing a fantastic vision.
