Photographer's Note
On a daytrip to the Longji rice terraces, we visited a village of the Yao people, where the Long haired women live. This old lady was so small, and she just looked so old and wise..
According to tradition, the Yao women only cut their hair once in their lifetime. This is usually when they are considered ready to be married. There is also a difference in how the married and unmarried women wear their hair, and how they tie the knot on their "scarfs".

what an interesting subject - she is certainly very small but good direct eye contact and a lovely face.Think it would be better cropped at the top so that she fills the whole of the frame otherwise a very nice image- well done Kathrine.

Lovely portrait of a pretty old women. Had you blurred the background much more, then this picture would have looked stunning!
