Photographer's Note
Majianglong Village Cluster:
"Situated on the flatland on the eastern coast of Tanjiang River, the Majianglong Village Cluster is under the administration of Baihe township. It is composed of 5 villages: Yong'an & Nan'an villages of the Huang Family, and Qinglin, Hedong & Longjiang villages of the Guan Family. Yong'an Village was established during the Qianlong period (1736-1795) In the early years, it was known as 'Fengsuilang' which bears the symbolic meaning of 'good harvest every year'. They renamed the place Majianglong after 1949. A large number of the villagers have emigrated to the USA, Canada, Mexico & Australia. The 7 'Diaolou' (watchtowers) and the 8 villas in the villages were constructed in the early 20th century. In June 2001 the Majianglong 'Diaolou' was declared by the State Council as a protected Major National Cultural Heritage"
(Copied from a sign within the historic village) One of the watchtowers can be seen in the background. Taken late afternoon on a cloudy day. I would have liked more time exploring these villages. Very quiet & peaceful & not swarming with tour groups. Kaiping makes a good base to explore some of the many smaller towns & villages featuring 1,833 of these 'Diaolou'.

Hi Chris
fascinating looking place this. Deserted and yet it has that "lived in" look about it! A superb mix of textures and immaculate details which prick the senses and give the image such a palpable atmosphere. Compelling work!
Have a good week - Brian.

Hello Chris,
Another interesting and unusual ensemble of architecture, to these eyes anyway. I like the point of view that has the benefit of directly the viewers attention naturally across the frame from left to right. Very good rendering of the tones and textures. Have a good evening.

Hi Chris,
The tight frame is putting the buildings in evidence. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture oh the houses and of the buildings. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Chris,
J'aime beaucoup ce décor simple de la chine profonde. J'aime les affiches sur les murs, l'eau qui coule autour de la porte et le temps gris-bleu très normal.
Amicalement
