Photographer’s Note

The old Astor Hotel, constructed during the British colonial era, early last century. This foreign concession area in Tianjin is now protected, & was a pleasant stroll, devoid of all but 2 other tourists I saw.

Yes, I'm afraid the British got virtually everywhere before the Empire finally disappeared after the Second World War ;-) It is interesting to see this colonial architecture being preserved for posterity. Good point of view and excellent clarity. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Chris,
nice red and green composition with good diagonal lines. The light was a challenge I assume watching the sky and dark shadow at the tree. Good sharpness and colours.

Very interesting to see this place. It looks extremely European, and yet it is in a Chinese city. It's good to hear that they have preserved this so it will stay that way, as historical places in China seem to be disappearing fast. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Chris,
A pleasant walkway entrance into the grounds of the hotel. The gardens are well manicured and find oneself to sit and relax amongst the greenery.
A slight bit overexposed, but well presented in all aspects. Is the hotel really pink or red?

This is wonderful and very good perspective and depth image.
Colourful in foreground with the fantastic flowers very attractive for visitors, I would me here very good feeling.
Also it astor hotel in background gives a good feeling and all so very quiet, formidable, where are all this peoples!
