[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This wolf-like dog blended in well with the cold surroundings. For a moment it looked like a wolf, but guess it was a relative and a domestic dog but there was no body seemingly with him at this time. If someone can identify the breed it would be appreciated.
Used the full 5 times zoom which needs to be steady. I was preparing to run, thinking it was a hunting wolf!

Thanks to Matt for likely ID.

Hello Murray,

This dog seems to be an Alaskan Malamute, similar to the Husky. It is a good shot of the dogs’ proud stature and powerful physique. It is a little unfortunate that the image is a little out of focus or not sharp enough. Was a large zoom used here? Those eyes are the most beautiful feature. I have seen them with alternate coloured eyes, a bit like David Bowie.

Considering the location, it is more probable this is a Siberian Husky.

Matt

Hello Murray,

I agree with Matt this is a Siberian Husky. The thing that strikes me the most about this breed are their blue eyes. The stance is also very strong and when they attack people better run. I wish the image is a bit sharper However you managed a good portrait of this doggie. Thanks Murray :-)

Hi Murray,

It seems the dog is observing something or on alert. It is used to cold weather. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the dog. A bit of extra USM would help. Thanks for sharing.

Pierre

Hi Murray. Sue goes all ga-ga over these dogs, they beautiful animals though. As the others say this shot is a little soft but that is forgivable given the magnificent pose you have captured. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.
