[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This seems a novel way to teach the kiddies to skate on ice. There were around 20 of these being used next tothe main lake skating course. It shows the commitment of a parent to get out in the sub zero temps to get participatary sports onto the weekend agenda.
The sun was out but be assured it was around minus 10C degrees and even the camera strap was frozen stiff. The walk was curtailed to avoid damage to the camera or my ears, unsure which would last longer.
A red flag is reflected on the ice.

Hi Murray,
Good composition with action and speed. Very attractive with the subtle reflection from the sun.
Regards
Gunnar

Hello Murray,

Despite what some from the more frigid parts of the world would say, I consider -10C to be very very cold! I have only been in the negatives a few times, and it is pretty hard to get used to for someone who lives in 20C winters! The photo is delightful, as the saturations are rich and the stance of the woman suggests movement. The red reflection warms up the scene a bit. Very good sharpness. I wonder how this would look in a panoramic or vertical format. Regardless, this works well.

Matt

Hello Murray,
a fun and sympathetic catch you made of those folks on the ice. Interesting interaction between the two main characters. It is especially nice! I like the position of the mother very attentive to her movements and the look of the boy ready to save it in the event of a fall.
Well seen and done.
Kind Regards.
Stella

Hi Murray,
I find this photo quite amusing ... this shows Chinese ingeniuity. The equipment they are using are all home built ... nothing fancy but it works ... I like their 'ca do' attitude :) Wonderfully captured with very good image quality. Excellent work! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Hi Murray,

Similar kind of weather that we have in Canada from mid November until mid March, cold and snow storms. Winter sport are also very popular here. It is the first time that I see such sleigh being used to teach skating. the photo is well framed. The rays of the sun are reflecting on the ice. The point of view is showing details and colors of the subject. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Murray,
nice snapshot of this pair,of the father and the child, that try to learn her sun to skating with his own way.I understand that the shot under these difficult weather conditions is an achievement.Well done Murray.

Have a nice Sunday,Danos

Hello Murray,

A superb note accompanying an excellent photograph. Using a chair evidently is a useful stratagem (I am not a skater), but usually the novice/child holds onto the chair and skates behind it I believe. I saw a very good image from Poland that suggests the technique. There is compelling pink color in the ice, reflected from something across the water. The image is rich in colors, impressive in its sharpness, and conveys well the sub-zero, bone-chilling cold.

Warm regards,

Bulent
