Photographer’s Note
It seems the bike has been largely abandoned in favour of modern cars when the Chinese in modernising cities go to work these days. This busy interesection is just a tip of the iceberg. This city is where many of China's cars are made. BMW cars are getting very popular among the newly well-off entrepreneurs in China, of which there are millions today.
Shenyang, the largest city in Northeast China, is the political, economic, and cultural center of Liaoning Province. It is also an important industrial base and a famous historical city. As the host city of the 2006 International Horticultural Exposition and venue for the football (soccer) matches of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Shenyang will soon be the focus of world-wide attention.
Shenyang is located in the central part of Liaoning Province. Its climate is relatively dry most of the year with spikes in precipitation during the summer months due to the influence of monsoons. Temperatures vary as much as 10 degrees Celsius from daytime to night, and in winter they can drop below 0 degrees Celsius, so the smart traveler will plan to dress in layers. Source: China travel.

So, no more bicycles in China! What a pity. The country is loosing part of its identity. We are all used to see hundreds of bikes and very little cars. But, it is changing. I guess, it is progress!
I like your high view point. It shows well what is going on at street level. Well done.

Hi Murray, Thanks for showing me how to cross a road in China, close your eyes & run by the looks of things, this looks like kayos, you have captured this daily scene perfectly, the light is excellent, sharp & well seen, a quality shot, kind regards Wilson.

Hello Murray.
A great 'from above photo' of this crossroad showing a modern daily life in China. I didn't think that the developement hade gone so quickly from bikes to cars. The photo is very sharp and clear and with good colours. TFS

Hi Murray. Already we see news articles about how the Chinese authorities want to ban cars from the city during the Olympic Games to reduce smog. Drastic and debatable as to what effect it is going to have. Great photo. Excellent POV and colour. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Murray,
This exactly what striked me on my visit to Guangzhou last week, on my previous visit in 1993 I had been able to witness the bike traffic jams so clicheesque about china, last year all gone, only cars building traffic jam, your overlooking Pov proves the point and image quality is fine.
Have a nice day and good luck to your rugby team tomorrow !
