Photographer’s Note

This photo is taken at Chang Bai Shan (Tall White Mountains) looking into Tian Chi (Heavenly Lake). The lake is surrounded by 16 mountain peaks and is the deepest lake in China. The lake also happens to be situated on the border of North Korea and China. You can see a divider line on the side of the mountain facing the lake to designate the border. The photo could have been better with less clouds and more ambient light, but I still thought it was interesting because of the location. I never thought the border of North Korea and China looked like this. The lake itself is enormous as I only captured about 1/4th of it in this photo. Wish I had a professional wide angle or something to capture all of it. I did manage a stitched panoramic which turned out nice, but you could still see the matching areas.

Legend has it, there are monsters living in the lake (China's version of the Loch Ness Monster)! The mountain range and lake are located 4-5 hours by bus from Yan Ji City in Jilin Province. There is also a waterfall flowing from the lake which is one of the tallest in China and also a magnificant attraction.

Enjoy the photo. I didn't do much to it, but adjusted the contrast and brightness and such with the free photo software on my computer.
