YuGuan Village
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
If my memory serves me correct this is the edge of a village called YuGuan, although most of the 100 or so mud houses are nestled amongst the trees and over the small ridge. I just had to upload a photo of it, as the location of this village is nothing short of breathtaking. This will be the first of a few photos I'll upload of this area.
The village has no major road going to it only mud tracks, in places not wide enough for a car, which made it appeal to me even more. I don't imagine many foreigners pass through here judging by the looks of amazement I was receiving from the local people, though they were kind enough to replenish my drying water supplies when asked.
I found this village after hiking for about 3 hours from San Tan Gongyuanr (Three Beaches National Park) near HuiXian. The area is incredibly mountainous and I almost turned back before getting this far due to the oppressive heat, but once I had made it over the ridge and into the next valley, covered in thorns, and looking like I'd been swimming fully clothed due to the heat, I was glad I had made the effort! Sadly though this is one of those places where no camera could ever capture just what the place is like, you'll just have to go there yourselves!
Like practically always in China, the poor light due to haze has detracted from the shot somewhat, though in this location I don't think I can blame it on pollution, just more bad luck and the time of day.
For the shot I used a tripod, grad filter and polariser to try and balance the light levels from foreground to background. PP work; some colour saturation levels and cropping + light level adjustments of the background.
Let me know what you think guys! |

Hello Lee!
Wonderful landscape, great point of view and DOF, very good green tones, and very well cropped and framed.
Best Regards.
Manuel.
Hi Lee. The haze has added a nice depth and atmosphere to the scene. Wonderful lush colours. Well composed with the diagonal hills providing a degree of dynamism. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
Have a good weekend, Paul.

Hi Lee
Really liked the note, very poor light as you say, but you have done extremely well with excellent tonal greens and composition. I like the pathway embedded in that bush it looks like my area here in Auckland.
Cheers
