Long before reaching the nucleus of Tibetain culture, Lhasa, meanderings in Xiahe were rich with snaps of the Drukpa, or those tent-dwelling nomads who call the Tibetan plains their homes. Photograph from a small cafe upstairs along the main street in the Gansu frontier town. Her family was in for noodles. Photographer obscuring the bokeh...
Everyone knows who she'd rather have on that amulet, but not wandering into town.

Hi Caleb. Superb portrait(of the woman I mean).Such a strongly formed face, her open gaze and beautiful stance. Lovely light on her and her scarf. The bluish backgrounds fits nicely in the colour scheme. Regards. Klaudio.

This is a very fine portrait, catching the woman's intense look and several interesting details of her personality. The light is very good and the blurred background just indicates enough of the environment.

This portrait is beautiful. Especially, the final touch is given by this neglected hand, giving some sweetness to the whole picture.

Again, such a beautiful shot. Did you ever find it awkward asking people to take their picture? Is the reaction generally ok? I'm going to Guizhou province at the beginning of November for the Miao New Year Festival (don't know if you know it) and would love to achieve something half as good as this. Any tips you can offer on approaching people would be greatly appreciated. Chris

There are so many photos from you that I don't know... I discover one of them from time to time at random and I love the surprise. I like very much this one for the sensation of ingenuousness that shines from your model, through her expression and the gesture of her hand, half stylish, half awkward. I love this mixture of self-insurrance and timidity. The other strong point of the pic is the vivid contrast between her red clothes and the blue of the wall. The sharpness is excellent, as usual, with a blurred background that situates the model in her environment. Congratulations
P: I am fine, Caleb.
