Got to love the Chinese mythology. As long as you have two animals, you can couple them to create a brand new one. Typically not a good choice for a pet, because they come out all menacing looking, with sharp talons and pointy teeth. However, their spirit is usually far from mean. This one is called Xiezhi, and he lives on the Sacred Way in Beijing. His task consist of routing out injustice and intuitively distinguishing between good and evil. And then punishing the evildoers, as it comes with the territory.

He is of course in the service of the Emperor, and will not follow you home, if you offer him with a piece of steak.

Ciao dear Miha,
Often, the Asian religions identify the divinities with the human face and the body of an animal. Excellent close-up of this mythological statue, with a perfect definition of the details and a pleasant light. Compliments!

immagine d'impatto di questa statua di pietra.
Forse qualche passo indietro mostrando anche la zona retrostnte avrebbe dato piu' profondità all'immagine e reso meglio il luogo.
ottimo il contrasto e la luce.

Dragi Miha,

vidim da vadiš fotke iz džepova, a pri tom si Sloveniju zapostavio. Na tvom mestu, ne bih ulazio u kući i nosio bih uvek aparat sa sobom. Ali i tvoje svedočenje sa putovanja u kinu posmatram sa interesovanjem, pa i ovoga puta. Tekst je bio neophodan i hvala ti. Hvala ti i na posećivanju. Tako si mi jedina veza sa Slovenijom. Hello Miha, he is a good guy, it just goes to show that because they are ugly & look nasty inside they are good, but I think it could be difficult to trust them at first, Just like people, maybe. Nice shot.
A good, interesting note with a little humour, maybe he is vegetarian ;-).
