Photographer’s Note
A tourist stands guard in the tower taking in the impressive panoramic vistas.
The wall is staggering in its size and beauty. It runs from East to West China and is 6,700 kilometers in length (4,163 miles ). Despite its size it is not, as is commonly thought, visible from space.
The wall has a long history (2000 years) and was originally built in the Spring, Autumn, and Warring States Periods as a defensive fortification by the three states: Yan, Zhao and Qin.
Somewhere on the wall hiking to Simatai. The section is about 3 hour drive north west of Beijing. It's much less crowded than other sections and was one of the highlights in my trip to China.

Beautiful picture! I liked the way you've framed this picture. I especially like the way the mountains in the back are outlined. B&W works especially well here. Very nicely done!

Amazing Picture,
I like the choice of B/W effect, the angle that u took the picture from shows clearly the curves of the wall and the silhouette...

Hi Peter, the silhouetted tourist is a real nice element in this wonderful B&W shot of this famous landmark. The faint outlines of the nearby mountain ranges really adds to the depth of this photograph, thanks for sharing!

Hey Peter,
cool shot. Although its conventional, it still offers a great view of the wall and the quality of the tones and the light here are all quite good. Whats great is the contrast of the wall gate against that sky in a sort of ghostly effect.

I totally approve of your choices here, regarding tonalities. Rafal is correct about the "view" itself perhaps being somewhat familiar but the choice of BW is not...everyone for some damn reason films that thing in color and guess what, it ain't that colorful! But you have magnificently brought out the graphic quaolities in the scene from the wall to the layered mountains in the distance.
Well done!

Hello Peter. This is a really great shot, very well composed with the wall curving like this, the tower and the great addition of the person in that doorway. The faded hills are also fantastic. great job.

very good image, usually we expecte a color for such capture. Here the b/w with the grey tones in the background are great with a special mood.
Godd timing with the silhouette.

Hey Peter, hope you're enjoying your time in China. That's a sweet B&W photo of the wall with the different layers of grey from the background mountains. And the human element is a nice touch. Good stuff.
