Photographer’s Note
This is a view from the great wall at Simatai looking out over the valley below. And looking at this cliff it is not far-fetched to pose the question I have in the title, "why build a wall here?". The easiest part of climbing this mountain ridge would probably be going over the wall. Anyway it's a pretty spectacular view, it's a pity that the weather was so bad.

Des falaises tres impressinantes ici et le premier plan nous offre une belle plongée sur la foret trés vaste d'ailleur.
Joli endroit merci de nous le faire visiter Simon.

A fantastic view well captured. I like the way the background fades up to white at the top, the difference between foreground and background make the foreground jump out even more.
I would have cropped the extra bit of rock at bottom out, and maybe sharpened the cliff a little more, but that is minor stuff.
I believe that bad weather often gives the best photos!

Hi Simon
Although I've been to China 5 times, I still haven't been to the Great Wall, so thanks for sharing. I like the graphism & contrasted lighting in the foreground left against the hazy background. Good shot!
