Photographer’s Note
The great wall in China, at Huang Hua. Usually you can't see the wall stretching this far in pictures of it, I thought it was truly amazing when I was there because it just disappears up in the mountains.
Talking about tourist traps, we had one funny incident here, we were using the lonely planet Beijing to find this place, when we were halfway on our planned route we wanted to look at the map in the guidebook to see where we were. We stood in between two towers and the towers were numbered on the map, we couldn't figure out if we were in between tower 13 and 14 or 14 or 15 (something like that). Then a man 50-100 meters away sees us, working in the nearest tower (you had to pay him 2 yuan to use his ladder) shouted "This is 14 and that is 13". I guess all the tourists who came there used the lonely planet.
Photowise this isn't perfect, I used my small APS-camera. I've sharpened it and enhanced contrast, but I didn't want to overdo that to keep the feeling of the misty (smoggy?) mountains.

Large Post
Maybe this isn't my best picture but I wanted to try the large post option and it's the only one of my pictures that has the right format. Since my editing skills have improved some since I first posted the small version I tried to highlight the greens a little for the large version, I also applied unsharp mask. The picture's resolution in itself is not high enough to support the large version, but I thought at least I'd give it a go.

HI Simon. Having been to this spot myself it has a special significance to me. Technically the shot is not that good, but it does capture well just how amazing the great wall is. How did they ever do it, building it through these rugged mountains?
Well taken, and I really appreciate seeing the large version of it. You did enhance the greens well!

A great view of the Great Wall. This angle emphasizes nicely the immensity of the effort it took to build such a structure on these rugged mountain ridges.

Great POV! Picture too grainy. I made a WS, although I think I overdid it, but you get the point.
