Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken whilst walking through the Forbidden City in beijing. The temperature was well into the 30's and the humidity was high. Stopping to take in some more ice cold water, i noticed this man standing to my right, gazing into the distance. A rare sight in the people packed city, where you are lucky to find a quiet spot to stop and take in the grandeur of the surroundings.
I think the red imperial gates in the background add intensity to the atmosphere of the image in contrast with the seemingly laid-back straw-hated man.

Hi Sal. Great shot. Has a unique- and hard to capture -timeless quality to it. The red carried through from the wall to the band in his hat gives it cohesiveness. Thanks for posting!
Cheers,
Sherry

Sal, gret shot this, I like the pose you captured, a workman leaning on his shovel. Nice colour tones, the door is maybe a little too close and too sharp, but then I guess you could hardly ask him to move! I wonder what he was thinking about?
Well done!

Hi Sal,
I like the color of the background; it matches the little strip in this fellow's hat :P He's got an interesting facial expression... Nice composition; well done!
